Rifampicin in the Treatment of Tuberculosis with Special reference to Short Course Regimens and Adverse Reactions
Sister Mary Aquinas
Abstract
In summary the conclusions of this study are that pyrazinamide is an important drug
in short course chemotherapy; cthambutol is a poor substitute for pyrazinamide, the fully
intermittent regimen is very promising and it avoids much of the immunological toxicity
of intermittent rifampicin. Finally the 8 moth regimens studied are very likely to prove
more effective than the 6-month regimens.
